ATLANTIC
BEACH
When our clients called to say they had purchased two adjacent pieces of land just steps from the Atlantic and wanted our help in assembling the architectural team we knew exactly who to call. Enter Douglas Wright Architects: Doug’s office designed an “unabashedly modern house” inspired by the minimalistic modern homes of the 1920s. They used cedar - perfect for a beach house - on the exterior as well as the interior and created an open floor plan to allow for an easy flow for the family of 7.
The interior design and decoration were thoughtfully executed to perform for small-scale family gatherings and large groups alike. We selected a calming neutral palette with deep accented color and abundant texture for the main living and dining rooms and combined furniture pieces that are both vintage and new, including some select design classics.
The primary suite provides a true weekend home respite for the owners with a serene and beachy palette while the kids’ rooms get punched up with energetic color and pattern. The kid’s bathroom design is playful with the use of graphic cement tiles and pops of colorful art and accessories.
The project is a beautiful collaboration between the architect, designer, and client and resulted in a home that will provide the family with a base from which they will create memories for years to come.
